Ingredients
- Tomatoes - 5 medium sized
- Onion (finely sliced) - 1 medium sized
- Garlic pods - 8
- Ghee/Butter - 2 tsp
- Bay leaf - 2
- Cinnamon - 1 inch stick
- Cardamom - 2
- Cloves - 2
- Water - 2 cups
- Sugar - 1/2 tsp
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
- Snapin - Herb Blend Mix (store bought) - 1/2 tsp
- Wash & pat dry tomatoes.
- Peel and wash garlic.
- Peel, wash and slice onion.
- Heat ghee/butter in a pan, add bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, sliced onions, garlic and saute for a min or two.
- Transfer sauteed contents to a vessel, add whole tomatoes, water & pressure cook for 4 to 5 whistles.
- Give a standing time to the pressure cooker before opening the lid.
- Cool & peel off the skin from tomatoes.
- Strain the remaining ingredients;discard bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom & cloves.
- Blend peeled tomatoes & strained contents in a blender/mixie.
- Heat once again, adjust salt and sugar.
- Stir in black pepper powder & the herb blend mix.
- Garnish with finely chopped cilantro or basil leaves.
