Green peas Soup

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-15 minutes
Serves: 2


Ingredients
  1. Fresh / frozen green peas (steam cooked / boiled) - 1.5 cups
  2. Ghee - 1 tsp
  3. Bay leaves - 2
  4. Onion (chopped) - 1 medium sized
  5. Ginger (sliced & crushed) - 1 inch piece
  6. Garlic pods (peeled & crushed) - 4
  7. Green chilly (vertically slit) - 1 small sized
  8. Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
  9. Salt - to taste
  10. Water - 1.5 cups
  11. Fresh cream / milk (optional) - 1/4 cup
  12. Toasted bread pieces - to garnish
Method
  1. Steam cook or boil green peas & keep aside.
  2. Heat ghee in pan, add onion, bay leaves, ginger, garlic pods, green chilly, cumin seeds & saute for few min.
  3. Switch off gas & allow to cool; remove bay leaves & keep aside.
  4. Blend boiled green peas along with the sauted ingredients to a smooth puree.
  5. Heat one & a half cups of water in a sauce pan, bring it to boil, add the sauted bay leaves, salt & the puree; stir well.
  6. Cook for five to six minutes, stirring continuously; remove bay leaves and discard.
  7. This soup is of thick consistency; however the consistency varies depending on the quantity of water used.
  8. Stir in fresh cream or milk.
  9. Garnish with toasted bread pieces & serve hot.
